Zusammenfassung

In diesem Artikel werden die Auswirkungen einer plötzlich eintretenden Abflachung des okklusalen Reliefs bzw. von Balancekontakten beschrieben. Dazu werden einige Grundbegriffe der Kaufunktion erläutert, wie Kauleistung, Kaueffizienz und Kauvermögen, und ihre Benutzung in Studien dargestellt. Untersucht werden der Einfluss des okklusalen Reliefs auf die Kauleistung sowie elektromyographische und kinematische Parameter sowohl in statischer als auch dynamischer Okklusion.
