Zusammenfassung

Vollkeramische Materialien bieten in vielen Bereichen der restaurativen Zahnheilkunde eine Alternative zu metallbasierten Versorgungen und eine Möglichkeit zur Umsetzung minimalinvasiver Therapiekonzepte – bei gleichzeitig hoher Biokompatibilität und Ästhetik. Durch die Weiterentwicklungen keramischer Werkstoffe in den letzten Jahrzehnten wurden erhebliche Verbesserungen der mechanischen Eigenschaften erzielt. Dennoch ist der klinische Langzeiterfolg noch immer sehr eng mit der korrekten Indikationsstellung und Materialauswahl, dem Grad der Kenntnisse und den Erfahrungen des Behandlers und des Zahntechnikers sowie einem adäquaten Okklusionskonzept verknüpft. Die hohe Innovationsrate bei den verfügbaren Materialien und der CAD/CAM-Technologie setzt heute ein besonderes Maß an Vorkenntnissen voraus, um die weit gefächerten Möglichkeiten sinnvoll und erfolgreich umsetzen zu können. Dem Leser wird ein Update zu den verschiedenen Einsatzmöglichkeiten moderner keramischer Materialien und Technologien gegeben. Daraus entwickelte Behandlungskonzepte für die moderne Praxis werden anhand von Falldokumentationen dargestellt und bewertet.
