Over 150,000 implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) are implanted annually in the USA and this number is expected to rise as our population ages and more people develop cardiovascular conditions that increase their risk for sudden cardiac arrest [
1]. Physical activity is safe and clinically recommended for most ICD patients, including those with stable chronic heart failure (NYHA classes I–III) [

3]. Large observational studies have shown that regular physical activity improves quality of life, functional outcomes, and cardiorespiratory fitness [

5]. Participation in structured exercise training programs, such as cardiac rehabilitation, has also been associated with a lower risk of ICD shock, hospitalization, and death among patients with ICDs [
