1. Depression im Kindes- und Jugendalter – Theorie und Empirie

Zusammenfassung

Das einführende Kapitel widmet sich dem aktuellen Forschungsstand der Depression im Kindes- und Jugendalter mit den Schwerpunkten Theorie und Empirie. Hierzu werden zunächst die derzeit üblichen Klassifikationskriterien und die Epidemiologie dargestellt und dann alters- und entwicklungsspezifische Ausdrucksformen der Erkrankung beschrieben. Die Heterogenität der Symptomatik und die daraus resultierenden Herausforderungen für Kliniker werden erläutert. Anschließend werden mehrere, bisher gut untersuchte ätiologische Faktoren benannt, die in ein multifaktorielles Modell der Kinder- und Jugenddepression integriert werden. Ein solches multifaktorielles Modell wird als gut eingeführtes Beispiel vorgestellt.
