Geschichte der Kontrastechokardiographie

Zusammenfassung

Die Entwicklung der Kontrastechokardiographie erstreckt sich über mehr als 50 Jahre. Die Besonderheit der Ultraschallkontrastmittel besteht darin, dass nennenswerte Kontrasteffekte nur dann zu erzielen sind, wenn Mikrogasbläschen in der Injektionslösung vorhanden sind. Dazu mussten Kontrastmittel und spezifische echokardiographische Techniken entwickelt werden. Meilensteine waren die Zulassung von stabilen, i.v. applizierbaren Kontrastmitteln und die Verfügbarkeit von Harmonic Imaging und kontrastspezifischen Ultraschallmethoden auf den Echokardiographiegeräten. Die experimentelle und klinische Forschung wurde von deutschen Wissenschaftlern und Klinikern entscheidend mitgeprägt und hat zur weltweiten Etablierung der Kontrastechokardiographie in der klinischen Diagnostik beigetragen. Wesentliche Studien und die beteiligten Wissenschaftler und Kliniker werden vorgestellt. Die Translation der Studienergebnisse in die klinische Praxis findet sich in den Anweisungen zur Kontrastechokardiographie im Manual zur Indikation und Durchführung spezieller echokardiographischer Anwendungen von 2021 der AG Kardiovaskulärer Ultraschall der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Kardiologie (DGK).
