Options for the management of atrial fibrillation (AF) include dozens of pharmacologic agents useful in rate control and rhythm control strategies. The primary goals of AF management are stroke prevention, tachycardia mitigation, and symptom relief. Toward those ends oral anticoagulants (OAC), beta-adrenergic blockers, calcium channel antagonists, digoxin, and sodium and potassium channel blockers are options employed in varying combinations. More than half of AF patients in the USA receive antiarrhythmic agents [
