Zusammenfassung

Die Psychophysiologie betrachtet die vielfältigen Beziehungen zwischen psychologischen und physiologischen Vorgängen. Dies ermöglicht beispielsweise, Veränderungen der vegetativen Funktionen bei emotionaler Aktivierung objektiv zu quantifizieren oder die zentralnervösen Prozesse, die bei einer psychischen Störung eine Rolle spielen, besser zu verstehen. Psychophysiologische Konzepte und Methoden sind für die Forschung und Praxis der Verhaltenstherapie zunehmend wichtig. So stehen im Bewusstsein vieler Patienten somatische Symptome im Vordergrund, und ätiologische Modelle enthalten oft biologische Faktoren als störungsrelevante Mechanismen. Die Beziehungen zwischen den behavioralen, kognitiv-verbalen und physiologischen Aspekten eines Störungsbildes (und auch deren Diskrepanzen) können wichtige Informationen für Diagnostik und Therapieevaluation beitragen. Diese können in der Therapiesitzung oder mittels ambulanter Messungen im Alltag der Patienten erfasst werden.
