Zusammenfassung

Schlafstörungen sind sehr häufig bei älteren Menschen. Die physiologischen Veränderungen des Schlafs müssen von den Schlafstörungen im engeren Sinne abgegrenzt werden. Bei der Behandlung der Schlafstörungen von älteren Menschen sollten die Ergebnisse des geriatrischen Assessments berücksichtigt werden. Dieses Assessment ermöglicht eine Individualisierung der Therapie bei gebrechlichen Menschen und Demenzkranken und kann helfen, eine Fehl‑, Über- oder Unterbehandlung zu vermeiden.
