In healthy people, standing up causes a downwards shift of blood, venous pooling, and a decrease of stroke volume (SV). Low SV tends to decrease mean arterial pressure (MAP) because MAP is the product of SV, heart rate (HR), and total peripheral resistance (TPR) [1].
