I found the research by Bayrakdar and colleagues [1] to be highly informative. However, their definitions for False Positive (FP) and False Negative (FN) are unconventional. Normally, a FP occurs when a test incorrectly detects disease when it is not present. Also, a FN occurs when a test incorrectly detects no disease when it is present [2, 3]. I recommend changing the definitions of FP and FN to:-
False positive (FP): The number of detected or segmented caries lesion(s) even though there was no caries lesion.
-
False negative (FN): The number of caries lesions not detected nor segmented.
