The prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)/non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) in children is increasing globally [
1]. This has resulted in a major public health concern, as the accumulation of excess liver fat is associated with numerous co-morbid conditions including obesity, cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and diabetes, especially in adults [
