Abstract
Extramedullary plasmacytomas are rare solitary tumors consisting of neoplastic plasma cell proliferations other than bone. In contrast to the medullary plasmacytoma, which are localized to the bone, these tumors are localized to submucosal areas, with 80% of them occurring in the head and neck. These tumors do not usually disseminate, but may be locally aggressive and destroy adjacent structures. Here, we present a case report of extramedullary plasmacytoma of the buccal mucosa who has been treated surgically in our institution.
