Abstract
It has been seen that though surgeons and anaesthetists are interdependent on each other to carry out their work, there is an under-current of disappointment and ridicule in their relationship. There are many reasons for this state of affairs. The discord leads to cancellation of surgeries, a communication gap, an inferiority/superiority complex for one or other parties, and bad patient management. It is necessary to bring the irking issues out in the open and acknowledge and discuss them threadbare, so that some tangible solutions can be worked out to remedy this situation. That is because, many studies have shown that a good surgeon anaesthesiologist relationship is very important for safe, uneventful surgery with less hospital stay and decreased surgical mortality.
